Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has sued Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State for defamation of character after the later claimed that she was involved in the Halliburton corruption scandal.
Mr. Fayose had said President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife was the “Aisha Buhari” named in a U.S. court document, allegedly involved in a bribery scandal involving a convicted former U.S. lawmaker, Williams Jefferson.
Although, investigation showed that the Halliburton case is different from the Williams Jefferson scandal as claimed by governor Fayose
But Mr. Fayose insisted he was right despite Mrs. Buhari’s denial and threat of legal action,
According to an online source, the court summons is dated July 20, 2016.
This marks the beginning of fresh controversy between the President and governor Fayose as constitutional immunity will prevent him from being prosecuted in the law court.
