Former Super Eagles Captain, Joseph Yobo has been unveiled as the Nigerian Professional Football league (NPFL) by FIFA president, Gianni Infantino.
The president of the World football governing body FIFA, Gianni Infantino, who is on a 2-day working visit to Nigeria, unveiled the former skipper at a ceremony in Abuja.
Yobo also confirmed his appointment as he wrote on his twitter handle “Honored to be unveiled @LMCNPFL Ambassador by @FIFA President Gianni Infantino. We must develop our local league.”

The Nigeria Professional Football League has made progress with positive changes in match scheduling and some other areas but needs to improve on officiating as poor officiating as reared its ugly head severally in the league in the ongoing season.
Joseph Yobo, who has 101 international caps with Nigeria and won the African Nations Cup, started from the youth ranks as part of Nigerian squad that got to the quarterfinals of the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship and made his first senior team appearance in a FIFA World cup qualifier match against Zambia in 2002. The veteran also played for a number of European clubs, notably Everton where he became the first African player to captain the Merseyside.
